Hi there! As an eastern bloc inhabitant (I live in Ukraine) I wanted to attract your attention to newer models of Lada cars. Here's Lada Kalina (Lada 1118), it has been produced since 2005 and is becoming more and more popular among russian, ukrainian and other post soviet countries automobilists. Here's sedanHatchbackInterior:

I quite like the hatch. Reminds me of the Daewoo Kalos of a couple of years ago that I quite liked.

And it's much larger inside than outside Just wanted to show you Lada's still alive, because reading forum on lada.co.uk makes an impression the time has stopped for it in mid 1990's. Nevertheless, Riva is also still being produced for Russia and Ukraine (but with fuel injection motor). I personally own 2105 produced in 2001 (one of the last with carburator).

I'd love a brand new Riva. Does it still look the same?

I'd love a brand new Riva. Does it still look the same? Yep, nothing changed except for quality. They don't pay much attention to its quality today because today Riva is a car for poor people, who don't have money for something better. There's no other car here which would cost 6000 USD. Kalos (here it's called Aveo) costs 13-16000 USD, Dacia Logan about 12000 USD, Daewoo Lanos - about 11000 USD, Lada Kalina - 9500 USD, Lada Samara 2 - about 8000 USD. So if you don't have money - Riva is your only choice, even if it breaks often, and that's very sad

Any chance of some pictures of the Rivas produced today, especially of the fuel injected engines?

Im sure I saw a pic somewhere of the new soon to be face lifted Riva. Same shape as 2105 but with huge tail lamps and bug eye sloping headlamps. Has this gone into production?

And I don't think it will. As for the pics you saw, as I know, it was just a project. But, the next year Russia will accept euro3 standards, and may be than...

OK. A project of face lifted 2107: But, again, it's just a project. Most likely they won't change anything in its design.
