Only reached £92, bit surprising really as its worth more than that weighed in! Didn't fetch its reserve though, so maybe it'll get re-listed.According to Practical Classics, Rapids are worth £2500 in A1 condition.

The problem lies with the clasic car market stalling and the magazine hype of car prices...My wife,s daily driver is a 1999 Kia Clarus executive, leather, air con,low mileage (52,000) 2 prev owners ,full service history and great fuel economy! Book price was £1800 to £2200 when I bought it her 6 months ago...I paid £450 for it ...Its main problem being that its a Kia..But its a Mazda FE3 16valve motor under the hood and no-one cares about that !! ..Its a Kia ..The same applies to Skoda,s etc sadly..Only the most commited of enthusiasts are willing to pay top dollar..check out all the other forums, plenty of interest but when it comes to handing over the cash it all goes quiet.thing is thanks to these so called book prices a lot of people prefer to have a £1000 rotting on the drive than £600 in their pocket..hence when the car is offered at a lower price its normaly a charity case..Take My 105..A real Bargain 20,000 mile car for £40 to save it from the scrapman...Now stands me at roughly £800 with the parts needed to get it right after 4 years of standing in a garage and outside..Still needs a little paint work and the seats re-covering !! When done and MOT,d I would be lucky to get £500! ..Parts availability is the biggest problem with many now having to be sourced from The Czech Republic..

Must agree with you totally, and I was amazed at what some of the rear engined Skodas have been fetching recently.£2995 for the blue E reg 130, £2000 for that 130L Sport, £600-£1000 for half decent rapids with T+T. I personally would rather do what you have done - buy the car cheaply and build to your own spec etc. There are some die-hards out there that will pay 4 figures for a RWD Skoda, but to be honest, I'd rather pay £1500+ for a decent early Fabia or Octavia. Like you say, some would rather let the car rot than sell for a fair price.A car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it at the end of the day.

..Parts availability is the biggest problem with many now having to be sourced from The Czech Republic.. The best bloke I know for Skoda Estelle & Rapid stuff new and used is Chris Pepper, owner of CPMS.He's ex-Skoda trained, 20+ years experience of RWD Skodas and also the newer ones, and has vast stocks of spares going back to the old 1000MB's of the 60's!Hes a Skoda specialist who started up in the mid-90's and has all but cornered the servicing/spares/repairs side of the market in the area! His ebay name is boroskoda and his contact number is 01733 324251.

cheers for that mate!! Turns out I have had some stuff off him via ebay but the number is well appreciated ;D Me and chris go back about 15 years, he was my neighbour when I lived in Parnwell and at the time he worked for the Skoda main dealer. He took great pleasure in turning up next door at lunchtime in a brand new just registered Favorit ;D God I was jealous.Especially when he came back in a brand new Limited edition Qualitaire estate. He used to run Skodas himself too, and I bought a 130LSE off him, C819FTM, to go with my yellow 130 Rapid, C350OEG and my white 130 Rapid, D899SVL and my black 136 Rapid G592KAV ;D Yes, 4 on the bloody go at once.(Shame they werent women - would have been cheaper! ) None were standard either. Anyway, I moved away after me and SWMBO split up, and I met a new SWMBO a year or so later and we moved to Eye villlage, and 3 guesses who lived on the same estate - Chris! He's a top bloke and really knows his stuff.
